Karas is a fantastic six-part anime series I came across the other day .. I enjoyed it and really recommend it. High-quality imagery. Whether you are into anime or not, this series uses the anime style to tell a fantastic story of a city and the forces that rule behind the scenes. Full of monsters, youkais and futuristic spirit-robots. Here is the trailer, should be easy enough to download somewhere online.

[From Madman's website]: Tokyo, a city populated by both humans and ghosts. They exist in two dimensions, seen and unseen. The city is thrown into disarray as a former Karas, the supernatural, sword weilding protectors of humanity, attempts to seize power and bring order to the streets through force. Rising up to face the threat is a new Karas, leading to an epic struggle between Otoha and the will of the city, against his corrupt predecessor Eko.

The full-length sequel to Zeitgeist: The Movie was released this October 3rd. I preferred it to the orignal. It's well worth watching!

This sequel focuses on economic corruption (built-in to the monetary system), globalization and the so-called economic hitmen. The second half of the film focuses on solutions like a resource-based economy and designing a new world with the help of technology (not stumping its development). The current economic rule of scarcity rather than abundace, and the dynamic nature of life and mind.

This is a talk that I have taken a liking to by Richard Thieme, an old-school hacker, this being his 12th year talking at DefCon (@ its 15th edition, August 2007). The talk is a non-technical one on the combined subjects of Hacking and UFOlogy ... apart from the serious and knowledgable topic, Thieme really poetically expresses his views on the subjects - subjects that I have the feeling are very inter-connected. He starts and ends his talk very nicely.

Visionary and Psychedelic Art

I was lucky enough to be trippin' while visiting this Vision Gallery: In:sights Exhibition ... it was a visionary and psychedelic art museum set up at Boom Festival. Some pieces were mind-blowing to experience in the alien atmosphere of neons and night. I returned the next day with pen and paper to get some of the artists' names.
